2012 Olympic Games Hopeful

I have been a Speed, Strength and Conditioning and Track and Field Coach for more than seven years, while also giving every spare ounce of energy and time to training for my dream of Olympic competition. I could not continue to coach and motivate my athletes to pursue their dreams when I had not fully committed to that myself. I have recently made the decision to resign from formal employment to pursue the dream of the Olympic Games. I now stand before them as the example of living and believing in your dreams.

A Day In the Life

As one can imagine, training for 10 events can be very time consuming. It takes a very strict schedule, an unyielding work ethic, and a ton of patience. Any successful person, in any facet of life, is going to face all three of those characteristics!

2012 Olympics

As my training for the 2010 Season is in full swing, I can’t help but think about and visualize the dream becoming reality in London, England! As the world watches London’s preparations in anticipation for the Games, my team and I are steadily progressing every day as the games draw closer; as are all of the world’s Olympic Hopefuls. "My Favorite Decathletes": - Rafer Johnson & Jim Thorpe

Mr. Rafer Johnson was born in Hillsboro, Texas but moved to Kingsburg, California at age 9. In high school, he played on the school's football, baseball and Basketball teams. As a versatile athlete, he was attracted to the decathlon after seeing double Olympic Champion Bob Mathias compete and told his coach "I could have beaten most of those guys in that meet". He competed in his first meet in 1954, as a freshman at UCLA. His progress in the event was impressive, and he broke the world record in his fourth competition.

The Decathalon

The Decathlon is an event in Track and Field that consists of ten different disciplines.  The event is held over two consecutive days and the winner is determined by a combined performance in all.  Performance is judged by a point system in each event, not by the position achieved.
